Animal Asana


A morning of animal inspired yoga plus an introduction to animal communication

Cat, dog, camel, cow, lion: just some of the yoga postures (asana) inspired by animals. 

Join me for this unique morning of working more deeply with the animal asana, to discover how we can use their shapes and characteristics to add meaning to our yoga.  With pranayama (breath control), relaxation and meditation, we'll enjoy a comprehensive practice before Becs Stevens of Pet's Perspective introduces us to her work as an animal communicator.

Animals communicate intuitively with one another and us.  We often miss what they are telling us with thissubtle language.  Becs works with all animals at this intuitive level and helps us to understand their behaviour, building stronger bonds. Myths of Asana: Stories and Symbolism of Yoga Postures

Why do yoga postures have such strange names? Many are named after animals or gods in the ancient language of Sanskrit.  Join me for this morning of yoga to discover the stories behind the postures and to find out how their qualities can enhance our yoga practice both on and off the mat. For example, by meditating upon the qualities of a tree during Vrksasana (tree balance), we can learn tolerance and patience. By returning to balasana (child pose) after a challenging pose, we acknowledge our inner child with humility and acceptance.   This workshop is suitable for all abilities, and as space is limited, early booking is recommended.

Yoga for women works on both the mind and body. It makes you strong both physically and emotionally, making it easier to handle the challenges of life, supporting you in all of life’s phases. As a holistic practice, yoga benefits all of your systems - skeletal, muscular, circulatory, digestive, hormonal and emotional.

Join me for this morning to discover how carefully chosen yoga practices could prevent or ease conditions such as PMT, menopausal symptoms, osteoporosis, arthritis, anxiety and depression.

We shall also look to the Indian Hindu Goddesses for inspiration and acceptance of our individual qualities as women.
